The Best Place for a Jewish Mind

We cannot predict what the world will look like as our children mature, but we do know that they will be prepared with the critical thinking skills and the moral clarity they acquired in the same manner as Jews throughout history.

History

SPHDS was founded in 1971 by a group of parents representing all segments of the Jewish community; the first offices were located at Kol Emeth in Palo Alto. The first classes were held in 1972. In 1975, SPHDS began renting its current facilities. In 1981, with the help of what is now the Jewish Community Federation of San Francisco, the Peninsula, Marin and Sonoma Counties, the Jewish Federation of Silicon Valley and three individual donors: Eli Reinhardt, Hal Dryan and Jim Joseph, SPHDS purchased the current site from the Cupertino School District in conjunction with the City of Sunnyvale.
